Quote approvals at a glance
September quotes, counted Sep 28, 2026 1 quote held at commercial approval $14,200 tooling line Keelson team only
The approval record for every quote built for Tarrow Pump Systems in September: the inputs each quote was built from, who approved the price and the capacity commitment, and the one housing family quote that was held over a tooling line. Prepared by the Keelson quoting engineer before issue, for Rosalind Chau, vice president of engineering, and Benedict Oyelaran, commercial operations manager, at Keelson Precision Manufacturing. This page stays inside Keelson. Nine quotes were built in September, and eight were issued for $412,000 in total.
Where the quotes stand
Nine quotes were drafted. All nine were confirmed feasible. Eight passed commercial approval and were issued. The ninth, a quote for a new housing family, was held at commercial approval over a tooling line. Read the funnel from top to bottom: the narrowing between feasibility and approval is the quote that needed a decision.
What counts as an approved input
A quote is built only from inputs that are already accepted on the record. If an input is not accepted, it is shown as open and the quote does not move to the next stage.
- Requirements
- The accepted answers from the specification question log, on the accepted drawing revision. Housing drawings are quoted on revision D.
- Feasibility decision
- Confirmed by Rosalind Chau for each part family before the cost is built.
- Cost inputs
- Material, casting, machining hours and finishing from the estimator workbook. Tooling is copied to the quote pack as its own line, never left in the workbook notes.
- Exceptions
- Any tooling, material or price exception is shown as a separate line with the amount and the name of the person who approved it.
- Price and capacity commitment
- Approved by Rosalind Chau. Benedict Oyelaran issues the quote only after that approval is on the record.
- Validity
- 30 days from issue. The valid-until date is printed on the quote.
The quote lines
Every September quote, with the source of its inputs and its approver. Values are the quote totals in dollars, except Q-9235, which is shown by its tooling line only. The two corrected quotes were fixed after issue and are marked.
| Quote | Part family | Value | Input source | Approved by | Result |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Q-9214 | Pump housings | $71,000 | Estimator workbook, casting price list, accepted drawing revision | Rosalind Chau | Issued first pass |
| Q-9219 | Impellers | $66,000 | Estimator workbook, accepted answers on the question log | Rosalind Chau | Issued first pass |
| Q-9223 | Impellers | $58,000 | Estimator workbook, accepted answers on the question log | Rosalind Chau | Issued first pass |
| Q-9226 | Pump housings | $49,000 | Estimator workbook, casting price list | Rosalind Chau | Corrected after issue |
| Q-9231 | Mounting brackets | $49,000 | Estimator workbook, plate and weld hours | Rosalind Chau | Issued first pass |
| Q-9228 | Shaft assemblies | $44,000 | Estimator workbook, bar stock price | Rosalind Chau | Corrected after issue |
| Q-9217 | Pump housings | $38,000 | Estimator workbook, casting price list, accepted drawing revision | Rosalind Chau | Issued first pass |
| Q-9233 | Shaft assemblies | $37,000 | Estimator workbook, bar stock price | Rosalind Chau | Issued first pass |
| Q-9235 | Pump housings, new housing family | Tooling line $14,200 | Tooling estimate, moved from the workbook to the quote pack | Rosalind Chau | Held, then approved |
The eight issued values add up to $412,000. Q-9235 is not in that total: it was issued after the Sep 28 count, so it falls in October's count.
Why two quotes were corrected. Q-9226 carried a casting cost that was one price list behind, and Q-9228 stated a lead time that differed from the quote pack. Both were corrected by Benedict Oyelaran and reissued to Ingrid Solheim, director of purchasing at Tarrow Pump Systems.
Quote values
The bars show the eight issued quotes, largest first. Two quotes, Q-9214 and Q-9219, make up $137,000 of the $412,000.
"I approve what I can see. A tooling line that sits in a workbook note is a line I have not approved."
Rosalind Chau, Vice president of engineering, Keelson Precision Manufacturing
First pass
Six of the eight issued quotes went out from approved inputs on the first pass. Two needed corrections after issue, Q-9226 and Q-9228.

The approval gate
The marks show Q-9235 as of Oct 1, after the Sep 28 count. The gate has five stages, followed by the Tarrow decision. A quote cannot skip a stage, and an open exception stops it at commercial approval.
- Estimate draft
- Feasibility confirmed
- Commercial approval
- Customer-ready
- Issued
- Tarrow decision, due Oct 7
What each gate checks before a quote moves on:
Feasibility confirmed
The accepted drawing revision is on the record, every open specification question for the part family is incorporated or named as open, and Rosalind Chau has confirmed the part family can be made. A quote with an open question is not moved on.
Commercial approval
The cost inputs are in the quote pack, every exception is a separate line with its amount, and Rosalind Chau has approved price and capacity by name. This is the stage where Q-9235 was held.
Customer-ready
The valid-until date is 30 days from the issue date, the terms are the agreed Tarrow terms, and the quote pack matches the estimator workbook line by line.
Issued
Benedict Oyelaran sends the quote to Ingrid Solheim and records the issue date and the valid-until date. Corrections after issue are logged with the reason.
