1Revision letters for three RFQs
Tue Oct 6Each of the three RFQs reached Keelson without the revision letter on its drawing. Engineering cannot tell whether to quote the current revision or an earlier one, so none of them can enter review. Days waiting are counted to Sep 28.
| RFQ | Part family | Fact missing | Days waiting | Reply owed |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| RFQ 5125 | Pump housings | Drawing revision letter | 8 | Oct 6 |
| RFQ 5127 | Impellers | Drawing revision letter | 5 | Oct 6 |
| RFQ 5129 | Shaft assemblies | Drawing revision letter | 2 | Oct 6 |
- Send the revision letter for each RFQBenedict checks each RFQ the day the letter arrives and releases the complete ones to engineering review on Oct 7.Keelson recommends
- Tell Benedict the revision is not settled yetThe RFQ stays at clarification. Keelson never guesses a letter, and the 30 day quote validity does not begin.
Cost of waiting: no quote can start on these RFQs until the letters arrive.
2Housing family quote Q-9235
Wed Oct 7Q-9235 covers pump housings in a new housing family. Keelson issued it to you after the Sep 28 count, valid 30 days from issue. Rosalind Chau approved its price and capacity commitment. You record one of three decisions.
| Your decision | What it means | What Keelson does next |
|---|---|---|
| Accept | You accept quote Q-9235 as issued, with its lines including tooling as a separate line. | Benedict records the acceptance against the quote and tells Rosalind Chau. |
| Decline | You decline the quote for the new housing family. | Benedict records the decline and closes the quote. |
| Ask a question | Something on the quote needs an answer first. | Benedict answers from the quote record. The valid-until date does not change. |
Keelson recommends reading the issued quote and its valid-until date, then deciding. Cost of waiting: nothing is ordered from the quote until you answer.
3Revision D questions: bore tolerance and two more
Thu Oct 8Revision D is the accepted revision for quoting, so these three questions are asked again against it. They keep their original age. Keelson records your decision and does not choose between two readings of a drawing.
| Question | RFQ and part | Asked on | Days open | Owed |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bore tolerance on the pump casing seat: the callout and the title block differ | RFQ 5102, HSG-410 housing | Revision C, asked again on D | 9 | Oct 8 |
| Flange face flatness after machining | RFQ 5111, HSG-512 housing | Revision C, asked again on D | 6 | Oct 8 |
| Port thread callout: one thread class on the view, another in the notes | RFQ 5124, HSG-410 housing | Revision C, asked again on D | 4 | Oct 8 |
- Decide each question against revision DKeelson rebuilds the quote inputs for RFQ 5102, 5111 and 5124 on revision D by Oct 9. Start with the bore tolerance.Keelson recommends
- Check the requirement with your design engineer firstYour answer to the three questions is still due Oct 8. The design engineer confirms the intended requirement before you decide.
Cost of waiting: the RFQ 5102 quote cannot take a bore tolerance, so the housing quote is not built.
4Order 2287: 400 to 650 impellers
Fri Oct 9You asked to raise order 2287, impeller IMP-220-B, by 250 units. Rosalind Chau decided feasibility and the revised price and schedule, and Benedict sent you the revised offer. The accepted order stays at 400 units, committed for Nov 7, until you accept.
| Your decision | Order 2287 | Order value | Delivery | What Keelson does next |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Accept the revised offer | 650 units | $76,700 | Nov 28 | Places the material release for 250 more impellers on Oct 12, moves the committed date and publishes it in the Oct 12 status. |
| Decline | 400 units | $47,200 | Nov 7 | Stops all work on the change. The 6 hours already spent are recorded against the change, not the order. |
| Ask a question | 400 units until you answer | $47,200 | Nov 7 until you answer | Benedict answers from the impact review. If the answer changes delivery or price, Rosalind Chau confirms it before the offer is reissued. |
Calculation: 250 units at $118 each is $29,500 more. $76,700 is 650 units at $118, and $47,200 is 400 units at $118. The unit price on the order does not change.
Keelson recommends deciding against your own build dates: accept if Nov 28 works, decline if Nov 7 matters more. Cost of waiting: no material is released and no rescheduling starts until you answer.
