Review of Sep 28, 2026 Order 2287: 400 to 650 units Adds 3 weeks
The delivery, material and price impact of every change Tarrow Pump Systems has asked for after quote or order acceptance, with the order 2287 quantity increase set out for Tarrow to accept or decline. Prepared by Keelson planning for the Tarrow buyer, Ingrid Solheim, director of purchasing, and for Benedict Oyelaran, commercial operations manager at Keelson Precision Manufacturing. Five changes have been received. Three are released, one was declined and one is at impact review. Rosalind Chau, vice president of engineering, decided feasibility and the revised price and schedule for order 2287, and Benedict Oyelaran sent the revised offer to Ingrid Solheim. Nothing on the order is released until she answers.
Order 2287: what was accepted and what is requested
Order 2287 is an order for impellers, part IMP-220-B. The accepted order is 400 units, committed for Nov 7. Tarrow asked to raise the quantity by 250 units to 650. Read the chart from left to right: the accepted quantity, the increase and the quantity requested.
The accepted order stays at 400 units until Tarrow accepts the revised offer. The 250 extra units are a request, not part of the order.
The added order value is a calculation: 250 units at $118 each is $29,500. The unit price on the order does not change.
The five changes and their impact
Each change is compared with the accepted requirements and the state of its order. Impact is stated before anyone spends time on the change. Hours are the hours spent before the decision was made.
| Change | Order | What Tarrow asked | Delivery | Material | Price | Hours | Decision |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Change 1 | Order 2281, shaft assemblies | New drawing revision with a tighter seal journal tolerance | No change | No change | $2,100 higher | 0 | Released |
| Change 2 | Order 2283, mounting brackets | Quantity cut from 1,000 to 800 | No change | 200 fewer brackets of plate not released | $2,900 lower (200 at $14.50) | 0 | Released |
| Change 3 | Order 2279, impellers | Delivery moved one week later at Tarrow's request | One week later, Oct 10 to Oct 17 | No change | No change | 0 | Released |
| Change 4 | Order 2290, pump housings | Different casting alloy | Two weeks later | New casting order | $6,800 higher | 0 | Declined by Tarrow |
| Change 5 | Order 2287, impellers | Quantity raised from 400 to 650 | Three weeks later, Nov 7 to Nov 28 | Material release for 250 more units | $29,500 higher | 6 | At impact review |
Change 4 was declined by Tarrow after it saw the revised offer, so order 2290 stays on the accepted alloy and its committed date of Nov 21 does not move.
How the impact is reviewed
- Compared with
- The accepted requirements and the state of the order at the time of the request.
- Delivery impact
- Weeks added to or taken from the committed date, from the production plan and the material lead time.
- Material impact
- Whether a new material release or casting order is needed, and for how many units.
- Price impact
- Change in order value at the unit price on the order, plus any tooling or setup line, shown as separate lines.
- Who decides
- Rosalind Chau decides feasibility and the revised price and schedule. Benedict Oyelaran sends the revised offer.
- Customer decision
- Tarrow accepts, declines or asks a question. The offer is valid 30 days from issue.
- Planning rule
- No rescheduling, material release or machine time on a change until Tarrow has accepted the revised offer.
"A change is a request until the customer accepts the revised offer. Planning starts on the acceptance, not on the request."
Benedict Oyelaran, Commercial operations manager, Keelson Precision Manufacturing

If Tarrow accepts
Accepted Delivery Nov 28
The order becomes 650 units at the same unit price, an order value of $76,700. Keelson planning places the material release for 250 more impellers and reschedules the order. Benedict Oyelaran moves the committed date from Nov 7 to Nov 28 and publishes it in the Oct 12 status.
If Tarrow declines
Declined Delivery Nov 7
The order stays at 400 units and its committed date stays at Nov 7. Planning stops all work on the change. The 6 hours already spent are recorded against the change, not the order.
If Tarrow asks a question
Open question
Benedict Oyelaran answers from the impact review and, if the answer changes the delivery or price, asks Rosalind Chau to confirm it before the offer is reissued. The Oct 9 date holds unless the offer changes.
